Malileh: silver filigree of Zanjan

Technique

Silver wire is twisted, flattened and bent into small scrolls, then soldered into frames.

Zanjan is the best-known modern centre; Isfahan also has workshops.

Store in dry cloth bags to slow tarnish. Clean gently; filigree bends easily.
