Character

Isfahan rugs are known for fine knotting, symmetry and a palette of ivory, navy, rose and teal. Silk is often used to outline motifs.

Structure

Foundations are usually cotton or silk; the Persian (asymmetric) knot is typical.

Cautions

Similar designs are woven elsewhere, including outside Iran. Structure and provenance matter more than pattern.
